Projects

  • Projections for 2008:

    • Computer Literacy and Food Preparation for parishioners and persons from wider community (in progress) 
    • Establishment of a Senior Citizens’ Activity Centre where persons aged 60 and over can share experiences with others, renew old and make new acquaintances, be retooled by learning new skills and have the opportunity to share their vast range of knowledge and experience. This will be open to the community
    • Purchase of a Parish Bus: funds are being raised
    • Implementation of the Parish Development Plan for the lands on High Street, Princes Town.
    • Implementation of Parish Sensitization Programme – Social, Economic and Spiritual Needs Workshops
    • Construction of the Ascension Church: Plans are already drawn. Necessary permissions are being sought. 
    • Upgrade of the St. Stephen’s Parish Church roof Sanctuary area – at a cost of $300,000.00
    • Establishment of an Outreach Programme in the new housing areas
    • Remedial structural work on St. Gregory’s Chapel: This is in the formative stages but is urgent and necessary because of the slippage of the land at the back of the church building.
    • Upgrade of the fencing of the St. Stephen’s Parish Church compound: in progress
    • Completion of land exchange exercise for the creation of an emergency exit for the St. Stephen’s Anglican Primary School: legal aspect being worked out
    • Completion of the Historic Poui Trees Upgrade Project in collaboration with the Tourism Development Company: being actively pursued: The two yellow poui trees at the front East and West of the Church were planted on January 22nd 1880 by Princes Edward Albert and George of England on a visit to the island – hence the naming of the town.
    • Honouring of parishioners who have made a significant contribution to the parish
    • Rebirth of the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Ascension Congregation: ongoing
