FAMILY DAY MESSAGE 2010

Welcome to one and all, members of the Anglican Church Family, Friends, and Visitors, to the South Region, host of Diocesan Family Day 2010.

As we gather to celebrate this our annual Family Day, under the Theme “Stewardship – A Model For Christian Living”, I pray that we would see ourselves as stewards of God’s world and all that there is in it, from a creation, participatory and spiritual perspective, with a sense of responsibility to tend and preserve God’s world.  Also, it is my hope that as we worship and interact with each other, we will commit to a process of study, leading to a full understanding of what Christian Stewardship means and move away from the notion, that stewardship is about balancing the books or primarily about funding raising.

Our Theme “Stewardship – A Model For Christian Living” suggests, and rightly so, that Christian stewardship is not merely a process, but a life changing one which includes a change in attitude towards God, his world, his Church, each other and is a faith building exercise.

Indeed as we accept our responsibility as Christian Stewards and commit our Time, Talent, Treasure, Resources and our whole being, our responsibility to managing all that has been entrusted to us, we will discover a change in us and begin to see ourselves as Stewards (managers) rather then processors as of God’s creation, so freely given to us.

It is my hope and prayer that after today’s activity, we will engage in serious prayer and work to become effective stewards of God’s world and build up each other as lively stones.

“STEWARDSHIP IS NOT HUMANITY’S WAY OF RAISING MONEY, BUT RATHER GOD’S WAY OF RAISING PEOPLE IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS SON.   [DOUGH CARTER]”

DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY…..

Archdeacon Edwin Primus

Chairman of South Regional Council
